This was one of the first things that popped in my head while thinking of a response to the TED talk provided this week. I was most interested in the content of that because the topic had been popping up in my life recently. I work for a small lighthouse museum and we are having an outdoor Halloween pet parade at the end of October. We were concerned we wouldn’t get enough vendors so we decide to pay for advertising on Facebook. As explained in the TED talk, there are so many different things that can be chosen to create an audience. From what pets you have to ages of children to political affiliations, all of these and more can be selected from to send a post to the audience you want. This is also part of the reason why I shared the Politico article that I did to Slack open-forum. It is very important that we be conscious of how we interact with digital spaces and also how they are trying to interact with us.
